Philosophy of Counseling
As a counselor, I aim to provide a safe, judgment-free, and positive place for clients to work and heal. My goal for clients is that they feel empowered and more self-aware through client-centered and solution-focused counseling sessions. I will also integrate other counseling techniques when it appropriately meets the client’s needs. In session, I believe that the client is the expert on the experiences that he or she shares. Therefore, with the right interventions, clients have the ability to recognize solutions and make decisions about their therapy. We will work together to find exceptions to negative perceptions and/or belief systems and solutions to the client’s presenting concerns.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors. I have a Masters of Arts degree in Counseling from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin and a Bachelor of Science in Community, Family, and Addiction Services from Texas Tech University. My work history with nonprofit organizations and public schools gives me insight into the particular needs of children and families and a passion for developing the skills needed to live a full and rich life.
In 2016, Archway opened a secondary office at MARC/Spectrum of Solutions. This non-profit Resource Center serves as a therapeutic epicenter for the West Texas region and provides a variety of therapy services to children with cognitive disabilities and their families. I am privileged to provide counseling and neurotherapy services at both locations according to the financial and therapy needs of the client. Neurotherapy is a drug-free therapy that is commonly called biofeedback and is a powerful tool that can help clients improve their self-regulation, peak performance, learning ability and relaxation skills. It is a collection of methods for training the brain to improve its performance. I use this and other psychotherapy techniques, such as EMDR, to provide the most effective therapy for my clients.
